Money Manager

Deleting your account

You can delete your Money Manager account yourself, at any time, without asking anybody. It takes effect immediately and it cannot be undone.

From the app

Open More, then Delete account, underneath Sign out. On iPhone, iPad and Android alike.

From the website

Sign in at dash.money-manager.app, open Settings, and use Delete your account at the bottom of the page.

If you can no longer sign in

Write to [email protected] from the address the account uses. We will delete it and confirm when it is done, within 30 days and normally much sooner. If you write from a different address we will have to ask you to prove the account is yours, which is not obstruction โ€” it is what stops somebody else deleting your records.

What is deleted

Your account itself: the email address, display name, password, sign-in history, second factor and any Google or Apple sign-in linked to it. If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple the link is over, so the app stops appearing under Settings › your name › Sign in with Apple.

Any household you were the only member of goes with it, and everything in it โ€” accounts, transactions, categories, rules, budgets, savings goals, imported statements and bank connections. The confirmation screen tells you which households those are, and how many transactions are in them, before you agree to anything.

What is not deleted

A household you share with somebody else stays, because its records are not yours alone โ€” the rent and the shopping of a person still using the app are in there. You leave it, and your name comes off the entries you made. If you were its only owner, ownership passes to whoever has been in it longest, so nobody is left locked out.

Invoices and payment records are kept where accounting law requires it. They are held by Stripe and contain no financial records of yours.

Subscriptions

A subscription bought on this website is cancelled as part of the deletion, so nothing further is charged. One bought through the App Store or Google Play belongs to the store, and we have no way to cancel it for you: cancel it there first, or you will keep being charged for an account that no longer exists.

Backups

Encrypted backups expire on a rolling schedule, so a deletion reaches them within that window rather than instantly. Nothing is restored from them except to recover the service after a failure.

The rest of what we hold, and why, is in the privacy notice.
